Diabetes Mellitus Stem Cells Treatment

What Is Diabetes?

According to a recent World Health Organisation report diabetes mellitus is one of the top ten leading causes of death worldwide. Numerous risk factors for diabetes make its prevalence constantly expanding worldwide. Even young children suffer from diabetes type 1, so this disorder is becoming common for millions of people as the number of patients grows rapidly. For many people everyday insulin injections are the integral part of their life, long-term damage that they cannot hold on.

The disease of diabetes

In two words, it is high glucose level in the blood. But as it is not a single but group disease, it varies. There are some common causes of diabetes such as inappropriate cell response or inadequate insulin production (or two of them connected together). People with high glucose level can be identified by strong thirst and hunger and frequent urination. Diabetes type 1 appears due to the destruction of the absolute majority of pancreatic β-cells which product insulin by T cell autoimmunity.

To control diabetics properly, new methods of control T cell autoimmunity and making β-cell function remain unchanged have to be developed. The diabetic disease chains patients with the necessity of using the exogenous insulin.

For sure, science progressing and today some medical studies show that T1DM treatment with the use of mesenchymal stem cells from adipose tissue potentially can be very effective. The conclusion of what is said above is that not only the necessity of β-cell replacement appears, but also the need to regulate the autoimmune response to cells expressed by insulin. Mesenchymal stem cells are levers of providing the T control for cell autoimmunity.

Blood sugar uncontrollably rises in the case when a patient with diabetes type 2 or 1 is not under the treatment. It leads to the number of serious complications such as diabetic, liver disease, neuropathy, diabetic foot, diabetic nephropathy, circulatory problems, cardiovascular disease and blindness.

One of the main problems in patients with diabetes type 1 and 2 lies in a generalized vascular and peripheral nerves disease. It spreads on the arteries of large and medium caliber also with small vessels, capillaries and long nerves distal parts. Subsequently, these changes lead to the emergence of diabetic foot syndrome. Diabetic foot syndrome (DFS) characterizes by violation of vascular tone and malnutrition of ligaments, skin, muscles, bones and tendons. These changes are progressive and can lead to gangrene.

Special program which combines angioprotectors, nicotinic acid and anti-inflammatory drugs is traditionally used in the treatment of diabetes type 2 with DFS.

Diabetes Type 2 Symptoms

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is characterized by a combination of insulin resistance and pancreatic beta-cell dysfunction, which begin to secrete reduced insulin amounts in response to increased glycemic values.

Type 2 diabetes symptoms are slow to develop. It’s usual that during many years person who suffers diabetes even doesn’t know about it. But there are some common symptoms which indicate this terrible disease:

  • Increased urination and thirst. Diabetes characterized by excessive amount of sugar in blood, so thirst appears. Patient feels thirsty, consumes more liquid and as a result urinate more than usual.
  • Weight loss. Type 2 diabetes is connected with increased food consumption. But despite it patient often lose weight. Weigh loss occurs because of disturbed glucose metabolism. As a result organism uses alternative kinds of fuel, stored in adipose tissue and muscles. Glucose excess excreted in the urine.
  • Strong hunger. Insulin is a substance responsible for sugar transporting along the tissues. Insulin lack causes muscles and organs energetic exhaustion, and that process is accompanied by a strong sense of hunger.
  • Darkened skin areas. It is not an exception that patients with type 2 diabetes have velvety and dark skin. As usual, such places are located around wrinkles and folds – in armpits and neck. That condition is named “black acanthosis”, and it is one of insulin resistance signs.
  • Increased infection frequency and ulcers. Patients with type 2 diabetes have decreased potential to confront and to heal infections.
  • Vision problems (blurred vision). Excessively high sugar level is often connected with lens liquid lost. At type 2 diabetes, liquid may be drawn from the lens. It decreases patients’ ability to focus vision.
  • Fatigue. Due to lack of glucose in cells irritability and fatigue appears

Diabetes Mellitus Complications

The big problem is that diabetes often ignored. It’s hard to diagnose at the early stages. First time patients feel normal and it seems like it’s nothing to worry about. But this tricky disease affects almost all organs and leads to the heart, blood vessels, nerves, eyes and kidneys functioning violations. The best way to prevent complications mentioned above is a permanent control of blood sugar level.

Type 2 diabetes develops gradually, but at the end it may cause total organs failure and even life threatening. There are few most obvious complications:

  • Nephropathy (renal disease). It is known that kidneys filters blood. They are made of countless number of tiny clusters. Under the type 2 diabetes this fragile filter system can be damaged. It leads to kidney failure, and in most complicated cases requires dialysis or transplantation.
  • Neuropathy. Nerves-supplying capillaries (blood vessels) damages due to excess sugar level. The process especially evident in the legs. As a result, tingling, numbness, burning and pain occur at the fingers and spreads upward. Lack of blood sugar level control results in control loss of the affected limbs. Digestive nerves damage causes diarrhea, nausea, constipation and vomiting. As for men, it can also result in erectile dysfunction.
  • Blood vessels and heart disease. Patient with type 2 diabetes have increased risk of various cardiovascular diseases, such as heart attack, stroke, chest pain (angina), atherosclerosis (arteries narrowing) and high blood pressure.
  • Alzheimer's disease. Likelihood of the disease increases when blood sugar is out of control. But the direct relationship between these two states is still under the question.
  • Various skin diseases. Risk of bacterial and fungal infections significantly increases at type 2 diabetes.
  • Hearing impairment. Hearing problems are not uncommon among the patients.
  • Feet damage. Poor blood circulation and nerves damaging increases the risk of various complications. As a result, blisters and cuts appear and may result in hard-to-treat infections.
  • Eye damage. Type 2 diabetes can cause retinopathy and blindness as a consequence. Cataracts and glaucoma probability is also increased.

Stem Cells Therapy for Diabetes at Swiss Medica Clinic

The advantage of this method is that donor is not required, as the creation of new beta cells is provided by the stem cells contained in the person’s pancreas. Progenitor cells can self-renew indefinitely as they have some properties of stem cells. The result is that the ‘Re-educating’ immune system makes stem cells to stop attacking the beta cells. The new beta cells start sensing the blood sugar level and react.

Adipose tissue is considered to be the standard source of mesenchymal stem cells. They are safe and effective, and they can relieve from the necessity in immunosuppressive drugs. These approaches will definitely eliminate or at least reduce the patients’ need in exogenous insulin.

Why the SwissMedica Clinic?

  • Effectively prevention of acute and chronic diseases.
  • Up-to-date equipment and technologies (RNA-based medications, cellular active factors, RNA-based medications).
  • Use of mesenchymal tissue cells excludes any rejection.
  • Absolute safety.
  • Our technology activates the reserves of the human body: it heals itself from its own hidden reserves.
  • Life source even for the "hopeless" patients, who share their histories.
  • 20 years of successful clinical experience in regeneration and restoration of the organism.
  • Everyday improvement of skills.
  • Use of patient's own mesenchymal stem cells.

We offer 3 and 12 days treatment programs (or individually tailored program). Furthermore, the patients are under the follow-up for 6 months after the end of the therapy. It usually takes about 2–4 month to feel the result. Treatment is arranged in Luсerne (Switzerland), Belgrade (Serbia) and Moscow (Russia).

Please, fill in the form on the left and we'll send you a treatment program.
